Dr Covington is the CEO and Founder of Melody Covington MD Consulting and Abundant Health & Vitality Associates Medical Weight Loss Clinic. She is board certified in both internal and obesity medicine and licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virignia.
Dr Covington received her medical degree from The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina and completed internal medicine residency at Advocate Health Care located in Charlotte, NC (formerly Carolina's Healthcare System/Atrium Health).
Dr Covington served as the first weight loss doctor for Novant Health's largest markets - in Charlotte, Huntersville, and Matthews, North Carolina. She has served as Medical Director for General Motors Charlotte CCA and Biolife Plasma Centers, along with various clinics throughout North and South Carolina. She is one of the youngest physicians in North Carolina to start and own a self funded private medical practice.
Dr Covington has worked with corporations, institutions, tech companies, and small businesses to provide physician consulting. She provides strategic business consulting for new business owners along with physician supervision for advanced clinical practitioners.
Dr Covington is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association, The Obesity Society, Obesity Action Coalition, American College of Physicians, and the National Medical Association.
